Strike Declared at TV Markíza: Journalists Demand Editorial Independence

Last Sunday, in the final broadcast of “Na telo,” Michal Kovačič courageously exposed the rising censorship within TV Markíza, warning against the “Orbanization” of Slovak television. Following his remarks, the station abruptly cancelled “Na telo” and “Na telo PLUS,” citing political pressures. Yesterday, over 120 employees, including Kovačič, declared a strike readiness to demand editorial independence and journalistic standards. Management has refused to meet these demands, leading to an indefinite strike starting on 30th May 2024. This pivotal action underscores the vital need for impartial and fair working conditions to ensure unbiased news coverage.
